The Five speed Chopper was a late arrival , ( The USA models preceeding this by a few years ) with a restyled rear frame and derailleur gear system.
Rear
derailleur gear system / Unique graphics
The rear wheel was completely different from the Mark 2's with different size spokes, wider spindle and hub. Graphics on the five speed were unique to this model.... two tone ( dayglo orange and yellow) and was only available in one colour 'Sharp Pink' . ( Strange!!... )
The rear drops out were yet again redesigned to hold the rear 5 speed cog with rear arms wider than the original Mk1's and 2's , very similar to the Grifter where the wheel has to be mounted front to back instead of the original design from back to front .
If you look closely at the crank you will notice the heron logo had been dropped for this model to accommodate the five speed gear system and also two Raleigh nuts were used for the rear wheel.
The shifter had a trigger style shifter with a small tensioner lever to hold the gear in place.
