Removing
old seatcover....

Remove
the saddle from the bike and unscrew nuts to remove seat post ( Mark 2's will
need the rivet to be drilled out) Seatpost clamp had broke on this baseplate
so will need rewelding...

Next
job is to remove seat backplate as shown...As you can see this seat definately
needs a new cover.....

Now
VERY carefully peel outer cover from pins or use a screwdriver to VERY gently
lift the pins( be very careful here as the pins tend to be very rusty and sometimes
break ) . The cardboard base needs to be removed too but on this seat it had
deteriorated many moons ago !!!

Next
step...try to salvage the eyelet clips here. They are pressed in and need to
be removed carefully..Once they have been removed the seat strap can be removed
( Seat strap had been destroyed on this seat )

The
exact eyelets are not available but if you destroy them you will have to shop
around for replacements ( Slightly different ones are available in local hardware
stores )

You
will find a precision screwdriver set comes in very handy..bend back the inner
so you can push through the outer ring...

Close
up pic of an eyelet removed in one piece.....

The
seat should look like this with the cover removed...Replace plastic waterproof
outer to protect the sponge ( If it's as bad as this )....

I
should get away with this sponge even though there is a piece missing..If the
sponge is useless you can easily form a new one in the same shape....

A
pic of the sponge removed from the base , It is glued to the base so be careful
...You will notice the sponge is two different pieces and can be easily replicated
if deteriorated....

Final
job is to weld seat clamp back to the base which should be a straight forward
repair...but bear in mind your seat might not be as bad as this !!!!
