The year....1977 while we were all partying on the streets celebrating the Queens Jubilee ( UK ) Raleigh decided to release the classic Chopper in another guise....After 750,000 sales the new member of the fleet was known as the Special Edition and the most obvious addition was the alloy wheels , the bike was the Rolls Royce of the Raleigh fleet...( expensive too retailing at £71 ) It still retained all the features of the original except it had alloy wheels , brake lever covers , Rear hub brake ( with mini brake shoes ) and extra cable holders welded to the frame to route the rear brake cable to the 3 speed hub..It really did stand out from the rest.
