A Revolutionary new design for the 80's .... straight out of Star Wars .... The Raleigh Vektar was the one of the most expensive bikes of it's time .... BMX was cool and Choppers and Grifters were dead and buried .... The bike featured an onboard digital computer ( Knight Rider ?? ) Extras included a 3 band AM preset radio and Sound synthesizer with 8 built in digital sounds ... A three speed Sturmey Archer hub was grafted into the skyway type mags too...(the first BMX with gears???)

The Vektar onboard computer featured ....Elapsed time, distance travelled , speed and maximum speed achieved ... It was available in Laser Red and Cosmic Blue ...

The Vektar could be purchased as a standard bike and built up to match the specification of the complete 'deluxe' model if preferred , If you were unfortunate to own the basic model which featured no radio etc..., you always had the option to upgrade . Extras included Computer module accessory pack ( trip meter , speedo ) .... Sound Synthesizer Accessory pack ( paddle , shifter and speakers ) .... Radio Accessory pack ( with 3 preset AM stations ) .... Console security keys ( to help you put the batteries in/out without breaking the delicate plastic ) and Vektar hi-frequency accessory ariel ( which was fixed to the rear mudguard )
